BREATHE! Anyone dealing with pain or Anxiety that takes a few days “off” from your normal eating wellness and exercise routine might start to be concerned that a it will undo a year, 6 months, or even three months of effort & progress! You may feel a little puffy, and emotionally drained but that’s a normal response to lot’s of family and a higher carbohydrate intake and all that extra sodium – you’re retaining water! That may sound like you shouldn’t drink any MORE water, but that is the exact opposite of what you need to be doing! From what this Psychotherapist understands from RD friends that are much smarter than her… your body stores several grams of water with every gram of the glycogen from carbs leading to that puffy sluggish, jeans barely buttoning, rings hard to fit feeling. You need to flush these extra glycogen and sodium molecules OUT of your system with fluids and vegetable fiber. So here’s what you do:

  • STOP the shame dialogue that you’ve been playing in your head.
  • DRINK WATER LIKE IT’S YOUR JOB.
  • MOVE your body a minimum of 30 minutes.
  • 15 minutes yoga, mindfulness, prayer or breathing to once again get yourself centered.

  • Plan out at least three healthy meals with plenty of greens to get you back on track!
